A strong team
builds strong
machines

Since 1982, HAGE has been developing highly complex special-purpose machines, FSW systems, and automated production systems in Obdach for international industrial companies.

Where others reach their limits, we are just getting started – delivering pioneering custom-built systems that shape the industry of tomorrow. True to our motto: “Together we build the future.”

Together with our customers, we transform ambitious ideas into automated system concepts that push technological boundaries. Whether in Friction Stir Welding (FSW), high-end custom solutions, or XXL profile machining, we develop solutions for production processes where standard machines simply are not enough.

Location

At our headquarters in Obdach, in the heart of Styria, Austria, we have created a center for high-tech innovation. Across two specialized production facilities and state-of-the-art engineering offices, we bring engineering, software development, and assembly together under one roof.

FSW CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

A particular highlight is our in-house FSW Center of Excellence. For more than 15 years, we have been setting technological standards worldwide in accordance with EN ISO standards. Here, we test process parameters, produce initial samples, and work closely with our customers to develop the optimal solution.

For you, this means: less risk during the ramp-up phase, reproducible results from day one, and a partner who understands your specific challenges.

Sustainability

Those who build the industry of tomorrow also carry responsibility for today. At HAGE, sustainability is not a matter of communication – it is part of our daily decision-making.

  • Solar energy - Photovoltaic systems on our company premises enable us to generate a significant share of our electricity needs ourselves.
  • Electric mobility - EV charging stations are available on our premises for employees and visitors. We are also gradually transitioning our vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.
  • Paperless processes - We are consistently digitalizing our internal workflows. From engineering to production planning, we already work largely paperless.
  • Resource efficiency - We optimize material flows and energy consumption in production and continuously monitor key operational performance indicators.
  • Long-term thinking instead of short-term focus - As a family-owned company, we think in generations rather than quarters. This mindset shapes every investment decision we make.

We have not yet reached our goal on this journey. But we measure, improve, and report – because transparency is the first step.

HAGEfit

Precision starts with people. Building systems where there is no room for error requires a team that can perform at its best every single day. HAGEfit is the fuel behind our innovative strength. Whether it is physical fitness, nutrition, or mental well-being, we invest in the people behind the machines.

Would you like to work in a team that sees boundaries not as obstacles, but as an invitation to push further? Then HAGE is the right place for you.

Technology without limits
When precision knows no borders.

HAGE systems operate where failure is not an option. Our systems manufacture the fuel tanks for the Ariane 6 rocket, automate high-volume production for the global automotive industry, shape the future of international rail transport – and ensure that façades and window structures stand the test of time for decades.

The Origin in a Classroom

The Origin in a Classroom

1982

With three employees, the HAGE success story begins on March 1, 1982, in a classroom of a former school under the name “Hampel Werkzeug- und Vorrichtungsbau.” A start-up with a vision – long before the term even existed.

New Location & Technological Leap

New Location & Technological Leap

1987 – 1988

Rapid growth leads to the move to HAGE’s current location in Obdach. New assembly halls are built, while the introduction of CAD/CAM marks a major technological leap in the engineering department.

Certified Excellence

Certified Excellence

1991–1997

HAGE grows to 50 employees and receives the Austrian Quality Mark. ISO 9001 certification establishes the formal quality standard for our increasingly global operations.

The Birth of HAGEmatic

1999

With our first machining center for aluminum and steel profiles, we redefine profile machining. In the years that follow, the HAGEmatic product line becomes one of our long-standing technological success stories.

Brothers Stefan and Florian Hampel

Continuity and New Visions

2001

Brothers Stefan and Florian Hampel follow in their father’s footsteps, taking over technical and commercial management respectively. Tradition meets forward-looking leadership.

Global Breakthrough

2002

From North America to the Far East, HAGEmatic enters international markets and strengthens HAGE’s reputation as a global provider of solutions to complex manufacturing challenges.

Revolutionizing Sawing Technology

Revolutionizing Sawing Technology

2009

With highly automated sawing systems, we revolutionize the sawing and punching of complex geometries and set new benchmarks for productivity.

Pioneering FSW Technology

2010

HAGE recognizes the potential of Friction Stir Welding at an early stage. We begin developing hybrid machining centers, laying the foundation for today’s FSW Competence Center.

Record Order for Our Anniversary

2012

Just in time for our 30th anniversary, HAGE receives the largest order in its history: four large-scale HAGEmatic systems for the international rail industry are commissioned in Obdach.

From Vision to Space

From Vision to Space

2014 – 2016

The first industrial 3D printers are developed. At the same time, HAGE enters the aerospace industry, manufacturing systems used in the production of tanks for Ariane rockets.

Expansion and Tech Campus

2018 – 2020

Peter Freigassner-Sanchez joins the management team. Plant 2 and a new technology center featuring one of Europe’s most powerful FSW systems begin operations.

apprenticeship

Training at a High Level

2021

A state-of-the-art apprenticeship workshop is established to pass our expertise on to the next generation of highly skilled technicians.

Focus on Core Expertise

2023

HAGE3D is transferred to BigRep. HAGE focuses entirely on its core strength: high-end special-purpose machinery.

Maximum Safety and Continuous Monitoring

2025

With HAGE HAWKeye, HAGE sets new benchmarks for production safety: direct, reliable and intelligent monitoring that protects people, secures production processes and raises both new and existing systems to a higher safety level.
